MISSING WOMAN
‘I need to report a missing woman.’
‘What does she look like?’
‘She has curly brown hair and eyes as blue as the ocean.
She is right here but she is frozen.
I can’t get her to walk or talk or feel anything.
Please help her. She can’t stop shaking.’
‘The woman is sitting right here. You said she was missing?’
‘Yes but she is slowly disappearing
Day by day she is getting worse.
Please help or she will be in a hearse.
She can’t feel happiness or sadness or fear.
I try to get close but she won’t let me near.
She is scared of being hurt and pushing everyone away.
All she can do is survive the day.’
‘She isn’t missing, she is standing right there.’
‘No. That is the shell. Her soul is missing.
She can’t feel any emotion.
This woman is broken.
She doesn’t love herself nor anyone.
I’m watching her slowly turning to stone.
Please listen.
She is missing.’
‘She is right over there. Take the tablets and leave.’
‘Yes she is standing there but she isn’t really.
Please I beg you to take this seriously.
She wears her hood over her face.
Thinks she is a disgrace.
Depression is taking her away.
Day by day.
She is losing her will.
Yet all you offer is a pill.’
‘What do you want? There is a waiting list.
We don’t have time to talk to her. I don’t see how else we can assist.’
‘You say take the anti-depressants and all will be well.
Don’t you understand that depression is hell?’
Please help me find her.
